Yes...so that they can learn lessons from that person's life without having to go through the same (usually hard or traumatic) experiences. The argument is that, even if subconsciously, that's why biographies (auto or otherwise) are appealing.

Their point is that you read someone else's life story so that you can connect with that human experience and try to incorporate lessons that person learned into your own life. The fundamental purpose of story is to learn from others' experience.

Looking forward to the audio. You just popped up on my Discover feed and the synopsis sounds awesome.

Damn that cover goes hard

Good to already have that in the works. Anyone actually in the industry would have checked trade publications and know that someone already has screen rights to your books. The fact this person/bot doesn't appear to know that proves it's a scam.

Well that's a different variety. You can't make a proper guacamole with that. I'm sure it would be good, but wouldn't taste the same.
January 28, 2026 at 8:19 AM
Oof. It's about the same in Maryland. Cali had perfect avocados, 5 for $4 often. We ate so many. I literally haven't had avocado in three years here.

Nom!

I've been substituting mayo with cottage cheese lately in my egg salad and it works shockingly well (plus way less fat and more protein). I wish I had reliable avocados. Mid-Atlantic produce is iffy. I miss California.

I'm center left. I want the current agency abolished and something new created, with new operational paradigms. Any country needs some mechanism to enforce its immigration laws, and it shouldn't look like a police agency (i.e. the FBI shouldn't absorb the role). For one, they shouldn't need guns.

Donald Glover 'good' gif gets so much mileage lately.

Yeah I'm intensely curious what they thought would happen when they took the job. Like...did you think everyone in the street would clap and cheer when you defeated those villainous illegals, like some off brand Harry Potter movie?

Finally, conservatives are getting a taste of their party commanding them to ignore the evidence of their eyes and ears.
January 26, 2026 at 8:06 PM
I'm genuinely curious how they thought the public would feel about them.
January 26, 2026 at 8:03 PM
I'm also trying to find reporting of that and it's goose egg.
January 26, 2026 at 5:17 PM
Jfc I'm not saying they're perfect. I'm just saying they're reporting plain facts here and that's what I want. You're allowed to disagree. Neither of us needs to 'win'. We can just believe different things about the role of journalism is society.
January 25, 2026 at 10:44 PM
Again, I want facts in my journalism. I don't need to be told how to feel about it. I can see the events and say "that's fucking murder and that guy should be in prison". I don't think the press should be doing that.
January 25, 2026 at 10:43 PM
"Officer involved shooting" is a standard term for any incident where an LEO discharged a firearm. They're all called that, whether someone dies or not. There's no contortion.
January 25, 2026 at 10:41 PM
I'm not seeing any evidence that the Times is playing nice with Trump. They're reporting what happened, which is exactly what they should be doing.
January 25, 2026 at 10:40 PM
Expecting journalists to give normative opinions on events is how we got here in the first place. Fox became all opinion, and its viewers don't know how to think for themselves anymore.
January 25, 2026 at 10:39 PM
Does journalism require such loaded language? Saying "the video appears to contradict the official account" is a clear concise statement of fact. Lying is about intent. Blame is about opinion and the law. I want them to report what happened. I can decide for myself how to think about it.
January 25, 2026 at 10:38 PM
What incentive do they have to cater to Trump at all? His supporters already don't read the NYT because it's long been considered a liberal bastion. He literally can't hurt them.
January 25, 2026 at 8:09 PM
I guess I'm just not seeing why they care. The family is fabulously wealthy and has been for generations. They don't need FCC licensing or DOJ approval for any mergers. The editorial board has endorsed the Dem candidate in every election since Eisenhower. They endorsed Warren in the 2020 primary.
