Thats an excellent point. It could alienate some supporters so they stay at home on polling day, or just dampen their overall willingness to help.

I'm also one of the ones who think Carney has played Smith into agreeing to making enviro concessions with the carrot of a pipeline that industry doesn't need and will never be built. He can make it up with BC on other projects that they're interested in that are viable and will actually happen.

The thing about Alberta is there's a lot of progressives here. Reform/UCP Conservatives will never be won over. They're a lost cause. Party affiliations isn't based on self interest or logic, it's emotion and ignorance. But the PC's can vote NDP if they feel the NDP won't tank our economy.

I pre-ordered Halo 3 and had it for months without being able to play due to the 360s RROD and Microsofts turnaround time to repair in Canada. Went through 4 360s in total and still bitter about it.

Best thing for Alberta's NDP is to just play along to help shake the "anti-oil/anti-Alberta" label that their detractors here like to stick them with while theres little to no danger a new pipeline will see the light of day.

BC won't back it, First nations won't back it, industry won't back it, courts won't allow it, so its dead in the water while Ottawa is off the hook and Alberta has a host of new environmental restrictions that the UCP agreed to. I think the UCP's been played, and i'm here for it. :)

I think this was a good move on Carney's part. A new pipeline isnt cost effective, isnt needed and industry won't invest to make it happen and he knows it. With this MoU, Ottawa cant be scapegoated as the ones blocking it while it withers and dies. And they got enviro concessions out of the UCP.

Yeah, this surprised me as well. I mean, this particular "award" show has always been sketchy as hell so I shouldn't be surprised, but Yotei missing seems like an obvious oversight to me. Yotei is a masterpiece.
