Hey new followers 👋🏻 let me offer an intro:

I'm a software dev, scratch golfer, occasional DIY/woodworker & I'm AuDHD.

While I'll post anything related to the above, most of my content is either coding or relatable, observational humor I use to cope with life.

Glad you're here & please be kind.

Nope, just supposed to wear 1 pair per day. Definitely sounded like a lot to me too.

I expected a number starting with a 3, not a 9.

What really grinds my gears is essentially I’m taxed thousands and thousands of dollars in my life time due to genetics I had no choice in having.

Eye doctor wants me to switch to daily contacts.

No problem, except it’s ~$1K for a 1-year supply and insurance won’t cover any of it for dailies.

That’s $3/day just for me to see.

I could pay it, but that’s absurd. I went with a different option insurance would cover.

If you were in tech and decent at posting between like 2010 and 2018 it opened a lot of doors.

There was a time where I could drive 13 hours from college to home in one day, but now 6.5hrs is more than enough for me.

And we’re home! So thankful to not be driving anymore today. 😵‍💫

Vancouver is a remarkably diverse and international city. I have heard at least 6 languages other than English spoken in my vicinity on this trip.

It was 12/10 easy. I’d eat it every day if I could.

Then this evening I did another walk on the waterfront

Then we hit Granville island for lunch. Found some fun stuff in the stores

Then we went to the Museum of Anthropology. Incredible collection.

The whole time I was thinking, “Art is what we make when we have time. So few of us have time anymore.”

Last day in Vancouver photo dump. Started the day getting an amazing brunch in Chinatown.

Sausage and two eggs on top of maple ricotta pancakes. It was perfect.

That’s exactly what started me using them. Easier to use a layer for reset than worry about style sheet order with bundlers.

Just started using layers recently. CSS has gotten so good in the last handful of years.

Another way to think about this is that in I’m guessing ~25 years, even with all the advances in information we have, they still haven’t made adequate accommodations for different people to succeed.

One upside to traveling internationally is I only have a vague concept of the exchange rate, but enough of one to know I’m getting what feels like a big discount on the price.

Makes spending money here a whole lot easier. 💳

No one talks about the sheer exhausting task of figuring out what to do on vacation. Getting tired of making so many decisions.

Also went to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, that was a lot of fun.

I didn’t take pictures from the bridge, too busy keeping my balance, but here are pictures from around the park.
Entrance to the park, its logo surrounded. Y Jack o lanterns. A totem pole, roughly 25’ tall, it tells the story of a raven who gave us the stars and the moon A view from the cliff walk back to the suspension bridge. Wish we had time to go to the island this trip, but think it’ll have to wait for another time.

Took the tram up Grouse Mountain today. Pictures can’t do it justice. Pretty way to view Vancouver.
A view from almost 4000’ looking down at the city of Vancouver and beyond.

I kind of enjoyed raw dogging code on my last flight. It was really pleasant that I could tab complete Intellisense before an LLM tried inserting something wrong at the last second like it often does.

We’re here for a few more days. We don’t have any evening plans for tomorrow or Tuesday if you want to meet up.

Let me tell you what a genuine good use of AI would be:

We take every movie Jared Leto has ever been in and replace him with the face of literally any other person on the planet.
