Oh lol, sorry got distracted by the Stitch and between that and the fact I woke up like 10 minutes ago, I didn’t realise that’s not your issue lol
I’d say that one thing is having the thing invented, and another having it adopted

BC years are like a countdown that go down the closer they are to Christ’s birth, for example, 1 BC is just 1 year until Christ’s birth, while 10 BC is further away (in the past).
4999 BC is one year closer to Christ’s birth than 5000 BC.
