(if you don't feel like reading the story, it's a story in which a hive of bees go to church to attend the funeral for their beekeeper...who died from an allergic reaction to a bee sting)

Before I realized what you meant by this, it did just remind me of a short story I wrote years ago: bluemarblereview.com/bees/

I didn't have the the idea to make the bees/WASPs joke when I wrote it, though—think it coulda added something
Bees - Blue Marble Review
The buzzing was quiet at first, just a low hum beneath the sounds of solemn hymns that barely registered to almost anyone—a seven-year-old at the front fidgeting with their black suit jacket and looki...

Palliative care is such an important specialty and I'm so happy he got his fellowship!! My wife is a surgery resident and there is a palliative care attending at her hospital who will write long notes about the patients that show how much he gets to know them and that's so special, dude

I just moved here this year from somewhere where we maybe got snow once a year and I am loving it so much right now—the fact that this is just a normal thing here is wild

(Albany is supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow before today's over and we have at least 2-3 inches on the ground so far and it is just lovely watching it fall while I work wrapped in a cozy blanket)

Like I don't agree with the conclusions many evangelicals get to much of the time, but plenty of them are earnest in the pursuits they take to get there
December 1, 2025 at 2:36 AM
the evangelical strawmen discussed online really do just make it seem like there is no one having any kind of thoughtful religious experiences in evangelical Christianity and as a former evangelical who still knows plenty of evangelicals it's just so untrue

If people want a pie that is a blob of sugar, they should make shoofly pie because it is better at being a pie that is a blob of sugar. Pecan pie is better at being a pie that is about pecans!!

Thank you for retweeting this thread; I just read the whole thing and it was excellent. I heard about this show but wasn't sold on it, but as a Hallmark movie watcher, I may have to go watch it now!

Yeah, this is what stood out to me. He didn't back down on anything—and the areas of agreement he claimed were more with Trump supporters in NYC (that they also talked about affordability) than with Trump himself for the most part

"I'm calling the Coast Guard." I have no idea why I am but it was between that and accusing them of cannibalism

Although I got a different "you might relate to"; mine is William Temple—interesting to see that those vary based on specific answers and not just scores/titles

I've been curious in the Narthex to see who got the results closest to me and lo and behold you got the exact same score as me lol

As someone who recently moved from Texas for my wife's job, I love this so much. It's hard to describe to people the things I love about Texas despite everything and this puts some of that to words

I grew up in a non-affirming church. When I was 16, I saw the dad of one of my church friends on Facebook defending trans people (and using the Bible in his defense). Idk if he even knows I saw that, but it was hugely important to me. Having affirming voices in those spaces can make such an impact

yep, still meditating on it—we had a guest preacher who's the pastor at a local Lutheran church and I am glad they did not shy away from it

Raised evangelical and feel very similarly. Bums me out a lot to have such a loss of connection with the music that helped shaped my faith to where it is now. I've found some folks whose music and values I am grateful for, most recently Thomas Austin—you may enjoy his music fwiw

(and the only reason I put purple in second is based on having read yours, otherwise I would have put in green or yellow next)

I just went and did Connections right after seeing this and HARD AGREE! I found purple basically immediately and went "there's no way it's that one..." so saved it and then put blue in first because it was notably harder! Purple was definitely the easiest

Yeah, I was lucky as a kid—my parents basically didn't restrict my internet usage once I was about 10 and I easily could have ended up in really bad corners of the internet and only by happenstance ended up in good ones. But now I don't even know if it'd be possible to get that lucky
