Interesting - they played Oh Canada before the start of the opera (Mme Butterfly) yesterday (crowd sang with verve). Plus applause and some good-natured booing for Mr. Pinkerton at the end (the American). Even opera goers have their elbows up!

Just read Alexei Navalny: Patriot. Disturbing because you know how it ends. Equally disturbing to see the parallels close to home. He was a clear communicator. Anti corruption. Pro rule of law (trained as a lawyer) and belief that no one is above the law. Sounds about right to me.

Yep.
I just spoke to a good friend who lives in Canada and she explained the phrase "elbows up" to me. Now, I pass it on to you. As much as it saddens me, I think the whole world needs to adopt this rallying cry when it comes to America.

Some of us have been saying this since 2020 and even before: Dems should make corruption *the* central issue in US politics and public life and go on the offensive against GOP/MAGA/Trump transparent and hypocritical corruption and grifting. Most voters hate corruption.

X and Visa - new way to get your Social Security payments. Cheaper (probably) but a lot of power concentration. Add X as voice of the government. More power concentration. Just speculating but it’s plausible.
