Don’t these cuts to healthcare not start to go into effect until after the midterms? enough time for them to lie that the cuts weren’t because of the tax bill.

it does seem like most of the very wealthy & even the media seem excited about a world where they don’t need to pay employees (or at least in media appearances they do not hide how great it’ll be for their profits to get to fire people). That obviously doesn’t excuse rudeness on here- esp not to you

AI could be used to make everyone’s lives better- shorter work weeks, better medicine- but we all know that unless something drastically changes, the US will have a few even more insanely rich people & everyone else will be even worse off economically (mortgages, loans, debts still have to be paid)

I think some of the hatred of AI/anger about AI posts is because basically 1000 people (or less) are determining the future of everyone else. Many AI CEOs & AI company employees explicitly say their goal is to automate all labor. In US capitalistic system, that’s a bad future for majority of people

When they claim they want merit based hiring & not DEI, they keep making it clear they really want to be able to hire unqualified white guys. This is Paul’s work experience below. Looks like he forgot to actually ever practice as a lawyer.

In the last few decades, America has gotten incredibly wealthy but if you take the 1% out the equation, Americans have fared worse than countries like France. AI will only make this inequality worse &, if not legislated well, will take away chance of American dream of a good life if you work hard

Anyone who has been on exec team knows every c-suite is excited about all the labor cost savings they’ll get from AI. Sam Altman said he and his tech ceo friends have made bets on when there will be first 1 person billion dollar company. AI will further screw up power balance between capital & labor

I struggle to see many new jobs being created if the AI companies are actually able to create superintelligence and get robots working. Business owners are not going to pay humans when they can pay far less for robots/AI systems. People in Europe may be fine, but those of us in America are in trouble
May 29, 2025 at 8:32 PM
AI will be helpful for education, but that doesn’t address how the majority of Americans can hope for a good future if they are locked out of the labor force as all knowledge work is automated (if AGI or superintelligence is created). 164 million working Americans can’t all have their own business
May 29, 2025 at 8:22 PM
As you said though, any new businesses won’t need many (if any) employees since “what took paying a lot of people to do, someone can do themself.” That’s exactly what Dario is saying. That’s the concern for many of us- there likely won’t be enough jobs because our system is hyper focused on profit

was he head of Biden crime family or was he senile? Can only pick one. Why don’t they just say which thing Biden did that they don’t like? Was it the best economic recovery from Covid experienced in the world? Was it growing wages for employees? The chips act? The infrastructure bill? What is it?
May 28, 2025 at 6:08 PM
I agree with all you’ve said, but what influence or “voice” do average people have on the direction it goes? It seems that all that matters is what the tech ceos want. congress currently is ceding all shaping of this technology that will impact us all -in good & horrible ways- to the AI companies.

According to WSJ, they’re building an “unobtrusive, capable of fitting inside a pocket or on a desk” object that “will be ‘fully aware’ of a user's surroundings and life.” It’s clear they have no women on the team who’ve warned them of the danger of concealed objects that record all (esp to women)

And by radical improvements in productivity, he means he wants all of us peasants to have our jobs automated by AI.

He doesn’t care about the health of the country for the citizens, he only cares that he & his billionaire tech bros make even more money.

Deregulation means they’ll let companies put harmful chemicals into your food and the air. Congrats everyone. Things may be cheaper, but we’ll all get to die from harmful diseases that could have been prevented!

Congratulations to all of the protest voters who thought Harris would be worse. You all clearly never took a second to even google what Trump‘s feelings are when it comes to Israel and Palestinians.

Quick question: do any Americans actually want to go work in a factory??

They’re trying to drag us back to the 1880s-1950s as if Americans want to spend their lives being paid pennies for hard manual labor (that is, if there are even jobs left after use of automation)

Firing federal employees is not what saves us tax dollars. If we care about tax dollars so much, stop giving Elon musk federal contracts. Federal employees are a small percentage of our budget.
