I'm going to mostly post about science stuff you might have wondered about. Knowledge is power or at least it used to be. Maybe now it is simply protection.
Did anyone think getting rid of the penny would help us?

An example of a politician who should be investigated not getting investigated.
Miller-Meeks no longer registered to vote in IA-01
Laura Belin: It's hard to believe a politician as experienced as Miller-Meeks has botched questions about her residence so badly.

The U.S. is mirroring a pattern that has happened in authoritarian regimes around the world. When a government erects barriers to reproductive care, it doesn’t just cause death and suffering for women and their families. Such policies are often a first step in the gradual decline of democracies.

Seda Saluk writes about how U.S. policy on abortion rights has started to mirror patterns seen in authoritarian regimes around the world.

Cruise ships to war ships. Spoiled view at a restaurant near Venezuela. Lots of money to "fight drugs" while pardoning drug dealers. Also, not good for turtles.

Public land grant universities with a mission to serve the residents of their respective states are the great economic equalizers. So of course Republicans and billionaires want to destroy them. 😖

A nice little restaurant view in the Virgin Islands but in the distance, some kind of war ship hoping to start something in Venezuela.

School personnel ask for mental health resources and the elected officials offer thoughts and prayers and computers. And talk about themselves.

What they grow is dictated and subsidized by the government. My guess is that the Trump administration will allow some farms to go under, their rich friends will buy them, then the money from our taxes will flow to the rich friends.

I missed this "Iowa in the news" article but apparently, people in the Okoboji region were complete jerks in 2020 and caused a covid hot spot. (My family vacationed in Detroit and the Lelanau Penninsula that year, wore masks, and didn't get infected because Big Gretch took summer vacation seriously.

An up close encounter with Turning Point. Say what you will, it is not intellectual and shouldn't have been around schools.
My Charlie Kirk story: How I was introduced to Turning Point USA

SC rules profiling legal. Better run out and get botox, filler, fake tan, a bunch of golf clubs and a big watch so you don't get profiled as Antifa.

I cannot express how sick I am of self-declared "free speech champions" who actually censor speech, threaten journalists, ban books, monopolize the media, and spy on us. So it is meaningful to me to work with people who have the power and commitment to push back against that nonsense.

I agree that numerical evaluations are not helpful and lead to gaming the system. At the U of Iowa, we had to write a paragraph for an evaluation. You can quickly sus out who has something valuable to say when they have to do more than check a box.

I'm finding out that a lot of people in my locality have been maimed by Dr. Dobson.
James Dobson is dead. His books should be buried with him.
There is irrefutable proof, acknowledged across the spectrum, that Dobson's teachings were harmful and in some cases dangerous. The only way to right this wrong is to pulp his books.
