hi i'm riuㅣthey/them, 21+
chung 💙

on another note, it also does not really allow chung to be his own distinct character from helputt if everything he does mirrors his father. his fighting stye, his past, his actions, potentially being possessed... it's just kinda boring because kog is already so heavy handed with comparing the two.

i know some people like the concept simply because helputt was possessed by demons and i guess i can understand wanting the parallels by having chung go down the same path, but... well, chung already struggles with being compared to his father constantly in terms of the lore.

in a way, it's chung's 'true' name. who he is beneath the warrior, beneath the guardian, beneath all the expectations others have placed on him.

but chung DOES use the nickname of 'chung', a name his father gave him because chung's eyes reminded him of the waters surrounding hamel. here, it's a softer, kinder name - away from the formalities of the seiker family, from being the guardian of hamel.

i just think it's a unique distinction. chung doesn't use his formal name, which he only has because he is helputt's son. this reflects the formality of the brutal trainings helputt often subjected him to, and the strictness with which helputt conducted himself during these times.

but outside of training, chung described helputt as such a kind and understanding father, the only one who ever believed in him despite the countless times he's disappointed him.

in one of the side stories, chung spoke about how helputt was an entirely different person during training. helputt was firm and exceedingly strict; he pushed chung so hard that he couldn't finish any of the drills because of how difficult they were, and due to chung's naturally weak constitution.
