I woke up in Aruba. I hope the WH doesn’t drop a bo*b on our simple fishing boat. They have 7 or 8 blue horses here. I think it was the Argentinians that brought horses and dropped them off for trade in what is now Horse Bay.

Getting a lil break from the rain, sun is out but it’s super windy. Gonna fall to 39-40° tonight so will cover the garden starting tonight. Winter has arrived in the high desert.🌵🥶 Had our first fire 🔥 of the season last night too. This is what I harvested today.

Slow-poke hiking club yesterday was an easy stroll through a wash at Desert View Conservation Area/aka Section 6 in Joshua Tree. A lone Saguaro cactus, not native to this area, is present. Lots of red barrel cactus.🌵 A beautiful, easy hike.

Slow Poke Hiking Club went to the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve this morning. bigmorongo.org This area had major mudslides and flooding from hurricane Hillary a few years ago. It was a boardwalk so more of a stroll. Some trails still closed due to boardwalk damage. Hugh birder area too! 🌱 🦅

Veg/herb garden update: we’ve had a nice long Santa Ana this October and the plants are loving the low 80’s/high 70’s temps. Night staying above 57° so that’s helped get them established before lower overnight temps move in. 🌱 (hi desert of San Bernardino county)
