A lawyer will explain how it works in their state- example, often one owner can force a sale of the home - they don’t both need to agree

House should be appraised to determine its value and how much equity he has in it, then a construction loan to cover the renovations up front and she can pay that off on an agreed upon schedule (in writing) with agreed upon increases in her ownership along the way. Wouldn’t do it without a lawyer

Assuming this is in the US, if i recall correctly the statute of frauds requires that contracts regarding real estate be in writing to be enforceable - verbal agreements can’t be enforced.
