Astronomer, Classical music enthusiast plus film scores. Foreign language TV. Single (grand) parent, widower.

Lives in Leeds, UK, but also seen in Furness and the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. Would vote Democrat if in USA.
Personally speaking, that fall from a massive railway viaduct into 3 feet of water after being shot in Skyfall would be enough to kill him, in my opinion.

Well how about a tank , I think it qualifies as a vehicle, though it too would be difficult to parallel park?

Just noticed The Long Memory is on Talking Pictures TV this afternoon.

I particularly like the 2nd symphony, I just think it sounds like (as in song without words), a soundtrack without a film. I can just imagine Richard Burton and Ava Gardner sailing off into the sunset as the closing bars emerge.

Is this going to be performed live in concert at some point, possibly at the @bridgewaterhall.bsky.social with the BBC Philharmonic?

If so, I wouldn't mind attending it.

Seems to like Bruckner too, I detected a strong hint of that in his score to Enigma, played I think on the movie by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

That's not quite correct what was said there. The plough/big-dipper IS part of the constellation of Ursa Major, it's not just an asterism. Here, in a big light polluted city, is generally all you really see of it.

I had 3 of those excellent sets on vinyl LP. The 39 - 48 was very good, some of those symphonies weren't widely played at that time.

However, years later, I went to see the Philharmonia Hungarica live in concert and was a little disappointed.

This Schnittke isn't bad, better than the Berio that was on earlier.

I think Starmer's adopting the policy of ignoring him, which would be my advice. M*sk thrives on notoriety, best thing to do is to deny him of his craving for publicity.

Her and that Rupert thing make En**h P**ell seem like a reasonably moderate person with their constant unrelenting stream of racist nonsense.

Best of luck with your future ventures Matthew, it's always been one of my goto choices for Saturday afternoons over the last 12 years or so. Will look forward to this afternoon's presentation whilst constructing my forthcoming U3A talk on 21st-century film scores.
