The internal angle of a pentagon is 108 degrees. The angle from my truncated tetrahedra is 109.5. This shoddy looking dodecahedral cluster might be a good example of cumulative errors, not just poor PVA-skills! 🧪

The world may be shaking 🫨 but summer means summer students!
Fun experiments, learning, and fresh energy in the lab.
I got them a little treat 🍪

Try saying this next time you talk to a colleague, any gender:
“You are sharp, rigorous, and your ideas changed how I think.”

We’re in science for the ideas, not to be called “very organised” or “inspiring.” Compliment the mind.

Last week I got the news that I've been awarded tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at @mcgill.ca.

Being a professor--research, teaching, service--is the best job to me. I'm incredibly grateful, especially for all the people who helped me get here & thrive here. ❤️

Do something! Just do.
An experiment, a figure, a paper, a book. Create and express yourself, have fun! We are just time in between oblivion. Oh, and if you can make it happen and it useful to others. This is next level happiness 😀
Enjoy ☺️ Primum non nocere! First do no harm

Feeling really tired and short of breath? It could be more than just a busy week.

Pneumonia doesn’t always show up with a cough or fever.

⚠️ Don’t ignore the signs — book a GP appointment if something feels off. Early treatment matters. #PneumoniaAwareness #HealthTips

Bluesky isn’t about popularity, it’s about getting a half dozen likes on an esoteric post about the carbon opportunity cost of agricultural land use, and one mercy like on a cringe climate-themed lyrical rewrite of a song popular among 35-49 year olds

Happy Birthday, Robert Bunsen! 🎂

He's best known for the eponymous Bunsen burner, which was actually constructed for Bunsen by instrument maker Peter Desaga. It was essential to the discovery of caesium and rubidium through their emission spectra.
