Winter Academy started in 2022. The extra time is meant to help students make up for lost learning days during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, the district started testing students to measure growth in reading, writing and math.

Valley Plaza opened in 1951 as one of the first West Coast outdoor malls. It put a fresh spin on shopping with its big-box stores, a movie theater and close freeway access. It was even home to the tallest building in SFV — Valley Plaza Tower.
