Also, there is privilege in being able to be angry in public and still be taken seriously. Newsom can pull it off. Benny Thompson and Jasmine Crockett have to be more careful.

I get wanting to see anger, but folks like Rep. Thompson have to walk a fine line to not be stereotyped and marginalized as the “angry black man.” I think he does a masterful job of conveying his conviction and anger in a way that doesn’t invite the trope.
