After church Sunday 1/25, those who would like to may assist with filling Blessing Bags. The bags are made by Curt Bergstrand's sister. They are filled with hygiene items and then handed out by the congregation to people who may need them.

Sunday January 25. The season of Epiphany continues. It is a celebration of light. Of Jesus coming as the light of the world. What is the light intended to illuminate? To show us? What is the scope of this light? Take a look at Isaiah 49:1-7.

Each year the Lakewood congregation partners with Maximo Elementary School to provide Christmas gifts for the students who are houseless. The school provides the names and ages of children and preferred gifts. An Angel Tree is set up in the sanctuary with the names and gifts listed on ornaments.

Come enjoy a buffet luncheon with your LUCC church friends on February 15th after services at Buffet City, an Asian buffet in West St. Pete. All day dinner is $21.99 which includes a variety of sushi, cooked seafood, Chinese-American entrees and sides, as well as some traditional American fare.

All are welcome to participate at Lakewood UCC in an engaging Bible Study about the book of Ruth. You are encouraged to read this short book in the Hebrew Bible and come ready to learn and share. The group will meet on Wednesday Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Office. All are welcome!

This week of Jan 11 is the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus. This is a time to remember that Jesus, too, was called to his ministry. What is our ministry? How does our baptism empower us to incarnate Divine Love? Take a look at Matthew 3:13-17.

LUCC Labyrinth. January 7-28 the Wednesday labyrinth will begin at 9:30 am. Starting February 4th, labyrinth begins at 10:00 am. The focus is on the scripture reading from the previous Sunday. For those not walking, a finger labyrinth is available. Bring your own chair if you can. All are welcome!

January Bin of the Month feature Blessing Bags. Needed are hygiene items for the homeless: sunscreen, socks, toothbrushes, shelf stable small snacks (protein bars, cracker packs,) combs, and deodorant. The bags are small, so travel sized items are recommended. Collecting until last Sunday of Jan.

Celebrate the Birth of the Savior! 6:30 Music of the Season featuring the Lakewood Church choir 7:00 Service of Candlelight and Communion The special offering received on Christmas Eve will be for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. This is a partner ministry of the United Church of Christ.

The next Bible Study gathering will be held Wednesday Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. There was a robust discussion about Shiphrah and Puah in November. In December the focus will be on Mary, the mother of Jesus. The services during Advent will be themed on the Magnificat of Mary. All are welcome!

There will be a Congregational Meeting following worship at Lakewood UCC on Sunday, Dec. 7 for the congregation to vote on proceeding with the plan to install solar power at the church. There will be a detailed explanation of the plan and vote taken to endorse the plan.

Each time the state of Florida executes someone, a vigil is held at the corner of 49th St. N. and Ulmerton Road/northwest corner. Signs provided. This heavily trafficked intersection is an opportunity to remind many people that a human being is being killed in our name by the State of Florida.

18th Annual Homeless Memorial Service Friday Dec. 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 100 Mirror Lake Drive. Be part of remembering the lives of the houseless who died in Pinellas County in 2025.
