I’m a history loving, book reading, fantasy enjoying, science-fiction following, National Parks/Parks Canada frequent visitor, and aspiring world traveler.
This is a horrifying destruction of a program that has saved many people and greatly enriched America. Once again I am ashamed to be an American.
Since the U.S. Refugee Program was created in 1980, it has admitted over two million people fleeing ethnic cleansing and other horrors. Now it will be used as a pathway for White immigration. What a downfall for a crown jewel of America's international humanitarian programs.

I just finished The Strange Career of William Ellis by @karl-jacoby.bsky.social and really enjoyed this story of borders and nations. It is the second of his books that I’ve read (Shadows at Dawn is VERY good) and I’m definitely going to find a copy of his first book as it sounds so interesting also

Now this I find quite useful. Though my favorite dictionary is the huge 1939 one seen at the bottom of this stack.

I just started reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon by @kellybarnhill.bsky.social to my kids tonight. Ever since I first read it a couple years ago I’ve had it on my list to read to them. I LOVE the language and turns of phrase in this delightful tale.
