Same with one of my British cyber friends. It was into the bones but surgery was successful and after a year of treatment he seems to be okay.

Did you see the interview with Chris Hayes? A shutdown would have been "20 times worse". It would have handed all power to the Executive Branch. They could have run amok even worse than they are now. Schumer did what had to be done to prevent that.
