Almost a dozen of my family members are laid to rest at the Hawai'i branch of Antifa HQ, in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. All combat vets, proudly volunteered to serve after Pearl Harbor was bombed and the US entered WWII. #Resist

I sometimes need to apologize in advance to my neighbors when I clip and groom the resident husky mix/drama queen/ I am not, in fact, eating her alive toes first!

I can't sew a flag big enough for this level of bullshit.

Palate cleanser between quilt projects: Stash builder trip to Lost and Found Craft Store in Olympia, WA and the Japanese knot bags made with some of the acquired fabrics! #QuiltSky

Looks amazing right side up! Maybe baste it and wait a few weeks to see how bad it gets. 😢

This year, sensibly making an effort to save on produce. Half our starts shown (PNW, 2 weeks since the last 36-degree night). The Branch Manager is diligently monitoring progress, although she did get in a huge argument with the Plant Inspector (Douglas Squirrel, Esq.) this morning.

Finished! Used the blocks of the bottom 3 unfinished rows to complete the last column and make the quilt symmetrical. I created the two last blocks with squaring-off scraps from Grandmama's other quilts (amazing that I'd saved them!), and some other partial pieced UFOs of hers. #Quiltsky

I learned about Y-Seams in the last few years. Enough to wonder "who did my Gramma dirty?!" 2 Y-Seams per block. She didn't know. I want to hug her! Also, we've all been there! Even the backwards block. My labor of love began! #Quiltsky 2/

It took a pandemic for me to take up quilting. I learned enough to finally understand what Grandmama's UFO was, and what needed to done to complete it. She passed in 1999 and this is one of the few patterned pieced block quilts we recall her making. Log cabin block with HST centers. 1/ #Quiltsky

Pulled my late Grandmama's UFO out of storage. 1950s-1970s fabrics. Thought maybe she ran out of blocks...squares. Turns out she ran out of SQUARE. 3" short on one side, I added
coping strips to square it up. #Quilters How would you quilt this?! Stipple? Honeybun?

I love the beautiful chaos! 💗A freer version of this one, my Quilts of the Dumpster Fire series #10, "Fire Lines," made of my masker scraps from donated community mask making. Inspired by Karen Griska's "Lasagne" pattern. This one stays with me!

Two in my short quilt series, "Moananuiākea" in batiks. Still need to figure out something for the scraps! Moananuiākea is the Hawaiian name for the Pacific Ocean, our wide sea which connects my friends and family.

An early 2024 art quilt that worked my creativity chops-- now to do something with all the scraps!

Here's our rescue, Zorra. Her vet agrees she is "special"! After Zorra's visit, the vet often looks like the aftermath of a tornado. Zorra attracts a crowd because she is beautiful and because everyone is trying to figure out what all the screaming is about. Just our drama queen husky mix!
