The issue is usually “The” wife. My wife is fine, his wife is fine. Same for husband. If my wife introduced me as her husband, great. The Husband is dismissive. I won’t even refer to my dog as The Dog.

“The Wife” is such a demeaning term. I know so many women who hate this term, and understandably so.
