"Of course you will miss your belongings, but what is need vs. want? There isn’t room for your old sneakers, tenth grade French book, postcards from Swansea, not even for your first child’s last baby tooth." Beautiful story in Washington Square Review

". . .Anette pulls a hat over her frizzy hair, grabs her binoculars, and shimmies up into the crow’s nest above the adjoining room of the polar observation station." A really atmospheric story in @kenyonreview.bsky.social by Madison Bakalar. Great autumn/winter read!

I did to not know that Heathcliff is supposed to be a racialized other in Wuthering Heights! I would've read it a lot sooner if I knew we were delving into all this race and class stuff. So . . . why do we have Jacob Elordi playing him in the Emerald Fennell adaptation?
laneylenox.bsky.social
I'm finally getting around to reading Wuthering Heights because I want to weigh in on the new adaptation. Emerald Fennell's other films bothered me, particularly given her (very) wealthy background. Am I just now reading Wuthering Heights because I'm being a bit of a hater? Maybe! And what of it?

Thanks so much to @genrepunkmag.bsky.social for publishing this little weirdo! The idea for this piece came from when I had a boyfriend that I found to be condescending and a know-it-all. So, I started making up historical "facts" to tell him. Apologies for my contribution to the misinformation age
