An alter ego. Nightmare fuel chemist stealing electricity from the alternator of the world. AuDHD, 🇺🇲/🇧🇪, music, machining, lapidary, cats. Pronouns: first and second person ones, darling.
the most charitable way it can be described is that he neglected himself to death

I suspect that many people who need to learn this were socially trained during childhood that any form of sticking up for oneself when anyone else is around constitutes "making a scene"

1. it does not

2. if it did, so fuckin what? your childhood authorities aren't authorities any more

kicking myself a bit for still not having recorded that diss track, though. they'd never play the video, but the thought of it is certainly amusing

you know how a boat is a hole in the water people throw money into

now add a dimension and also round the clock life support, that's space

oh that sucks, I hope the pills work out

it's a pity there aren't depot injections for it

apparently nasa is working on a nasal spray, though that's no help right now

metrics vary from paper to paper; common ones are decreased reading time, fewer fixations (getting "stuck" on a word), and what fonts study participants reported preferring

cohort sizes aren't great, dozens to hundreds is what I'm seeing

well that's bleak

a quick survey via google scholar suggests that serif fonts were the literature's choice back in the 80s and might be more readable at smaller font sizes, but sans serif fonts have performed better in more recent empirical studies

(I didn't know either, so I figured I'd look it up)

oh that sounds like a hell of a good time

I didn't ever really run across any weird am radio stuff except on long cross country drives, though my middle sister did divorce her first husband in part over his increasing fixation on art bell

former iowa city resident here: 🤬

are these like 1960s-80s exurbs or like "small town founded in the 1800s" places? mostly familiar with eastern iowa, far less so than des moines

well, other kinds of contemporary mass media too, but niches still played a role. eg you had to be listening to the local country station to hear merle haggard singing "okie from muskogee"

jesus didn't even give his life to save sinners; at most he gave up a long weekend

there's a bug somewhere in the human psyche that robs ppl of the ability to recognize support in anything other than uncritical agreement

it corrodes cooperation faster/more thoroughly than anything else I've encountered

what trips the failure state isn't always clear but as usual I have Thoughts

'traits' might be more unambiguously neutral? there's a sense of 'condition' that means "state of being," but there's also a more medicalized sense that many people don't enjoy, and one can't always tell them apart from context

(tbc, it's clear to me that in this context it's "state of being")

the timorese use case is a country with a mostly-cash economy and six (yes, 6) atms

www.wvi.org/stories/just...

the original design brief was actually distributing cash aid in the wake of natural disasters, but that translates well to any largely unbanked populations with spotty network coverage
"Just like Facebook": Digital cash a first for rural Timorese families
When Joaquina buys food and other everyday items for her family at the local store, she always pays in cash.

it's salient that rep. casten said "digital money" above, which is broader than "cryptocurrency", and can be built on a blockchain but doesn't have to be

case study: I led the design of a digital cash system for east timor. blockchain _sensu stricto_ wasn't an option because it had to work offline
