I think this is the end of the road for me at the forum.

Having the site's very existence depend on one person's technical knowledge and availability just isn't a viable solution. It wasn't back when François was the single point of failure back at HTLAL, and it's still not now that it's emk.

I emailed emk about the forum being down again and he said that he will look into it when he gets off work.

The 504s are attacking once again…

Looks like the board is back up! emk has posted in the 504 thread in General Language Discussion.

Update: emk emailed me about an hour ago and said that he is still working on getting the forum back up.

The board functioned long enough for me to log in, only to crap out when I tried to post a message.

I managed to contact emk, who told me he will look into the problem today. Hopefully it can be resolved soon.

Well, my first two messages to Rick on his YouTube video were deleted. I've posted the below message. This will be my last attempt:

"I'm going to try this one more time. Rick, the Language Learners' forum is non-functional. Can you please address the issue or communicate it to someone who can?"

I left a message on Rick’s latest YouTube video, which was posted four days ago. Let’s see if he replies:

Leaning toward being done with the forum.

There's not even a hint that the "leadership" cares about the state of it or has even noticed anything is wrong. It's a bit sad but I'm sure we all have better things to do than wade through 504 molasses to get a post or two through on a wing and a prayer.

So what did you all do with your languages today?

I read a bit of a Greek novella and an interview of the actor François Cluzet in Le Monde.

Also learned that instruments in the brass family are "coppers" (cuivres) in French.
