Good reminder for me as a grad student, AND a good perspective to adapt and teach to students. #langchat #teachers
First and foremost, allow yourself enough time to write and rewrite it. This is not a one-all-nighter assignment. You might have something done to turn in by the deadline if you do this, but chances are pretty good that you'll have done all that work without really gaining much understanding, or making much progress on your final paper, as a result. And that defeats the purpose of having you write the literature review early on: The whole point of making you write a literature review prior to turning in your final paper is to help you make progress on that final paper. Sometimes—rarely—that progress is the words you wrote in that first submitted literature review. More often, it's the ideas you develop during that drafting process that help the most.

For Spanish 1, they took sentences from a chapter and made an infographic to describe the chapter they read. Spanish 4 had to synthesize a couple different sources and put information together. #LangChat

After listening to @liamprinter.bsky.social and his episode on turn and talk, I understood the importance of Ss regularly changing seats. I added these country cards to each desk, and made a stack of corresponding cards so now each week they draw a country card and find their seat for the week.
On a student desk: two taped index cards, one which has idiomatic expressions in Spanish and English, and the other has a country name and the geographical outline of the country with the colors of that countries flag embedded.

Just got a message from my mom. Some Amish folk moved into the area a few years ago and I guess my parents were holding their cows for them.
A text message that says: Thanks for calling last night We don't have cows ourselves but dad forgot the Amish have cows here He had to go get them and bring them over to get the cows back in. They are going to take them back home today.
