In The Bonsai Diary, you grow a tree and tell its story over the course of decades and then centuries. The Kickstarter for this journaling game exceeded my hopes, and the first print sold out on @ipr.bsky.social last month. Luckily, it's back in stock in time for our upcoming event:

People who've played The Bonsai Diary call it "meditative" and "contemplative," and I like to imagine the drawing is a big reason why. Drawing the strokes that comprise the tree demands focus and attention.

When I discovered @laomao.bsky.social's ink wash paintings, I knew I had to get her involved with the Bonsai Diary. So I invited her to record herself playing the game, and from there, we're going to arrive organically at a cover for the published version.
