Thank u!!! Soooo much detail to go through! I'll be filling in the background "gold" today and then filling in the circles, the outlines around the circles, then the white "stars" after that!

Made some good progress this weekend, lots of flowers done today one more bunch of them left. The empty circles will be filled in with satin stitches after I fill out the background with heavy chain stitches. I can definitely finish her dress and get started on the grass before December 😤

Hahahaha I wish I kept up with writing them down! But I did gather up all the colors on the Erik one when I was done (I didn't use BLANC tho waayyy to bright I think I used 3033 for all the 'white' sections)

I'm brainstorming parts of the Klimt piece - I tried to find some triangle beads (without ordering) but i think I found something I can string up in an approximation. I'm very excited to try them out! It will just be awhile before I do so since I'm going to do them last.

Ooh yeah split stitch will help tremendously with that! The Henry piece forced me to learn how to do the satin stitch since I really wanted that nice shiny smooth fill. Some tips I learned- start filling from the middle, go at an angle like below. Don't pull thread too hard, use needle to adjust it

Nope! Something much more dumb and labor intensive, I first couched the gold thread down then filled in with split and satin stitch (1 thread out of 6)

A fun (non kcd sorry) piece that I was inspired to do when I realized how much blue thread I had and wanted to do something like porcelain. I really like how the face of the dragon turned out ☺️

An embroidered blue dragon flying over waves - done in the style of a Chinese porcelain vase. Stitches are scale stitches and back stitches from thick to thin 1 to 6 thread embroidery thread.

Some more up and close pictures I liked - I'm really happy with how both of these very very small embroidered things turned out.
A small embroidery of Erik on his horse for Godwin's race. Red carnations - the stem is fittingly a stem stitch, there is a small emperor's dragonfly atop them.

My most recent embroidery I've made so far - this of Erik, one of my favorite characters <3 I was really happy to post this on isterik week on tumblr.

An embroidered image of Erik in portrait style. The top illustration is the dog that Erik killed when finding out that Istvan was killed. The left flowers are carnations which mean love, distinction, and motherly affection. The flowers were common in medieval manuscripts. I have them blooming healthily on the left and the right they are withered - aka Erik's mental state after Istvan's death. Then I have Erik on his horse during the horse race with Godwin - I thought about putting Godwin too but decided not to. Then on the right I have when Istvan gave Erik the message for Sigismund since that's the last scene they had together. Bottom left I had a house burning and a small Erik standing in front of it and mirroring it to the right we have a fully grown Erik standing in front of the burned remains of a house he's burned no doubt with Istvan. Bottom picture of course is Istvan's grave. The yellow all around is Ivy, a very common plant in manuscript work as well. Henry is on the left in his outfit stolen from a guard that he's in when he kills Istvan and on the right is Istvan - his face in shadow of course because he died. The green bit above Istvan is a bloody footprint in grass - it doesn't quite come across but I kept it in cause it was fun. A close up of the embroidery - of note - the halo is made of interlocking blanket stitches, the chainmail he is wearing is made of french knots. The rivets on his chest piece are silver beads. The filigree around the piece are split stitches.

a close up picture of Henry - satin stitches for each armor piece, long and short for the sky, french knots for the chainmail and trees in the background. A heavy chain stitch for his chest piece and running stitches for the embroidered hood. A border stitch for the gold detailwork on the armor pieces.
