It’s apparent that neither Rubio nor Bukele thought this relationship through with any care. Bukele’s cynical proposal may reflect hope of becoming a folk hero. Brilliant. Must have read The Art of the Deal. Trump will likely fire Rubio for not thinking of it first. Pikers, all of them.

Many stories in the Minnesota press but no money coming from a state that is struggling with federal cuts itself. Businesses have abandoned purchased product in China and ports of entry. They’ll start lay offs, run through inventory and close. It’s easy to bet with OPM, isn’t it?

He's got my 90 year old former school nurse mother plan in ahead. He convinced her she'll be prosecuted for fraud if her $1500 SS check doesn't hit her bank account. She'd rather charge her assisted living fees and pay 30% interest than defend her rights. Quite the calculus. Yes, she's scared

How can business make any rational decisions with the on-again, off-again, 25 or maybe 250% tariffs? Is erratic behavior a side effect of Ozempic in men over 75 years old?

Pete, hold a press conference to expose the perfidy. Do it every single day. Congressional leadership is babbling pablum. Give us the leadership and compelling intellect we crave.

A man of intellect and conscience.

Sen. Tina Smith sent the same message … but in language Musk understands.

Sen. Tina Smith did the same … more directly and in language Musk understands.

Great idea. Get someone from the must win Midwest governor ranks who speaks authoritatively to impact of Musk/Trump on the ground — Pritzker, Whitmer, Kelly. Give Newsom a national platform. Schumer and Jeffries can’t get the job done.

Access to capital for small farmers (globally), access to technology to optimize yields against other values, transparent markets and free trade, investment in storage and transport capacity as protection against food deficits, research to develop climate resilience, moral commitment, education.

Ridiculous observation. Martin is strategic and tough as nails. I have no idea where this cones from.
February 1, 2025 at 10:42 PM
My guess is election systems are next. Funds to states will be frozen until access is granted. It’s time to stop worrying about the Pete Hegseth and Bobby Kennedy dramas. They won’t be given any power. Maybe lump Trump with them, too.

Mid-term strategy or incompetence?
January 29, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Is the lack of leadership a (morally bankrupt) mid-term strategy? Time for bleating Chuck to move on. Lord knows a lot of savvy and courageous people are looking for jobs.

This us the best source of honest health info now available. Osterholm brought sanity to Covid times. CIDRAP is his group and worthy of trust.

Schiff disappoints. There’s need for a legal street fighter, not a genteel but mealy-mouthed bore who smiles too much. Where’s the beef? Where’s the passion? Why cede performative politics to Trump?

Colombia (and Brazil) have the better argument. Human rights still tug at the hearts of Americans. Not sure how the economics cut. Appears they are long inventory but yields throughout central and SoAm are down. Can importers terminate contracts? Will importers have alternatives?

My watchdog regularly puts down markers, too. Is this really the issue that will help to reclaim the hearts, minds and votes of the citizenry?
January 27, 2025 at 2:13 AM
Listening to Adam Schiff’s lamentations about inspectors general maybe? Where is the leadership?
January 27, 2025 at 2:08 AM
This. To say nothing about the fact that every morning we’ll be reminded who pays for tariffs. And what do we hear? Adam Schiff bleating on about inspectors general … inspectors general!
January 27, 2025 at 1:58 AM
Why would the “he’s breaking the law” argument work now? Why not focus on the terror teachers & children feel in our schools? Or the fact that Brazil and Colombia are protesting breeches of basic human rights as we send their people home? No one cares about inspectors general.
