I hope they do! The plot and character development in that show is *chefs kiss*! I’ve watched it atleast a dozen times!

Same here! I’ve been slowly working on a dark fantasy, but have a sci-fi fantasy loosely inspired by Arcane (the tv show) constantly on my mind and I can’t pick one! 🤣

Not me over here watching commercials from the 90’s/00 with my boyfriend and shouting out which ones we remember.
👀 book buying is self care and I will die on that hill.

Tell me about it 😭 I’m wondering if book clubs are not for me. Too many expectations. 😂 But I’ll be okay.

I agree breaks are important. I’m on a short intentional break. I pick away at “plotting” (I’m more of a discovery writer) my WIPs here and there. But am focusing on reading and finding my passion for it again. I am constantly learning about the craft…which can be a blessing and a curse.

Positive affirmations really help me when I am in a spiral. Self doubt is a dreadful feeling, but it takes work to pull yourself out of it. 🫶

I feel that. Since starting my new job it’s been really hard to find time and energy. By the time I get home my brain is mush. So I try to write before work and the 45 mins at work before my scheduled hours. It’s quite calming.

It’s difficult to make a break into traditional publishing. I think, if I remember correctly, Brandon Sanderson wrote thirteen or so books before Elantris was picked up. But traditional publishing is not for everyone and that’s okay! I still haven’t decided what route I’m going to go.

I’m having surgery in three weeks and I’m in need of a good book. The last was a dud! I think my boyfriend got sick of me complaining about it. 😂 Nonetheless, it was for bookclub, so had to finish it.

Might I add, I’m not shaming traditional publishing. I just think there is a little more freedom in self-publishing.

That is very true! I guess that’s the benefit of self-publishing too. I feel like publishers want a brand that they can sell. Whereas, self-publishing is more authentic to the artist and far more flexible in that realm of things. Does that make sense? I could be wrong. lol

I wish I could plot! I’ve read Save The Cat more times than I can count, but as soon as I get to Fun and Games and Midpoint I’m like aaah what!? Ahaha! I like making character sheets since reading Creating Character Arcs by KM Weiland! Such a great book!

The Fun and Games portion is the hardest! And no idea is original! How someone else writes it will not be the same as you do! You will have your own unique style and spin on it. Might I recommend the book, Steal Like an Artist. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
