'Poker? But isn't that gambling?!'

'Not the way I play it.'
Fair point, and yes I'm talking about Boston.

@lynch.house.gov I'm a constituent (West Roxbury). Not one more dollar for these brown-shirts and thugs. They are not 'law enforcement' - anyone who refers to them that way insults the truly heroic police and feds who put their lives on the line to keep the peace. Please raise holy hell.

Someday - might be a thousand years from now, but someday - it will come out that Putin has some serious kompromat on our dear orange leader.
January 20, 2026 at 4:14 PM
First of all: the Orange Dope didn't write this. Second of all: Greenland is part of NATO; Russia and China are going to attack NATO?! Third of all: I'm so ashamed to be from a country that would elect this government.

The USA already has permission to set up military bases there, since an agreement from the 50's. And we have an active base there today.
The security argument is 100 percent pure absurdity.
He wants it because he can then give mining concessions to his cronies.

Any country attacking Greenland has to fight NATO.
So... Is the worry that Russia and China are going to defeat NATO and then take over Greenland together, and then what - each get half? Or are they going to fight each other for it, after fighting NATO?
This Russia/China argument is just so stupid.
January 16, 2026 at 8:41 PM
I disagree, but anyway that's really not the point. The point is - we don't need to be starting fights with anyone except the fascists taking over the country.

How many wars are they going to start to provide distractions? 'People are starting to talk about Epstein again! Quick - invade Canada!'

Yeah, I know. My clumsy way of agreeing with you.

You pretty much answered your own question.
January 5, 2026 at 2:40 PM
Great article. One quibble: this analysis assumes that when the US plans to topple Maduro, it cares even a bit about the costs in blood and treasure. This administration will bear any costs in Venezuelan and American lives, as long as certain individuals walk away with billions in their pockets.

So if immigrants transform their new country to be more like their homeland cultures, and given all the European folks who came here in the 19th and 20th centuries, why don't we have a solid social safety net, universal healthcare, and government-supported education?
