And the covetted LaserGlow Game of the Year 2025 award goes to... Hollow Knight: Silksong! I'd say Kirby and DK would have been in the running for the honour too but upon reflection, I'd say this game delivered the best overall package as well as me enjoying playing it the most overall.

And the last game I snuck in towards the end of the year was Curse Crackers. Awesome little Game Boy Colour tribute 2D platformer with a banger soundtrack to boot, also my god the lore in this game goes insane for a 2D platformer, big fan overall.

NOW THIS IS A GAME! The original Air Ride holds a special place in my heart and a sequel was something I always wanted but never expected and boy did this game deliver, it's not perfect but what is here is sublime! What a great lineup to kickstart the Switch 2.

But I'm very thankful for the cool new Megas it added, particularly so with the DLC.

Legends ZA is a weird game, I appreciate many things about it including more focus on battling and the real time combat being a nice shakeup but also don't fully appreciate the devs homogenizing it so it feels extremely main series adjacent rather than being parallel but doing its own thing.

First up is Donkey Kong Bananza! I wasn't hugely optimistic on this game but it simultaneously surprised and impressed me, particularly with its finale. You can easily see the Mario Odyssey DNA in here but for a while it was my favourite Switch 2 game. The DLC was certainly a choice though.

Running somewhat behind on this so for the sake of the new year I'm gonna speedrun what I've played since this last post as well as my personal 2025 Game of the Year.

It's such an empowering feeling having a franchise you never cared for throughout your life be the one people want to boycott because that is a ship I will *immediately* buy a ticket for.

Aw hell yeah my beautiful son is here... oh hi Arven you're here too I see.

It is insane to me that someone can look at the first year of the Switch 2, which only counting the exclusives consist of Donkey Kong, a sequel to Kirby Air Ride, Hyrule Warriors PLUS Mario Kart and say it's worse than the Wii U. We're not even done with the first year either.

This is not true simply because I say "Nuh-uh".

Additionally there's a handful of games where she does her heroics without any hint of someone paying her to do it (Metroid 1, 2 and Prime 2 come to mind.).

I don't know if I ever got the "motherly" vibe specifically but you could tell she always had a high level of moral integrity because rarely (if ever) did she bring up actually getting paid and she has more than once basically said "fuck the Federation" who were the ones paying her.

Completely escaped me to update this, but I'm a proud completer of Silksong! Throughout my time with this game I was on constant surveillance in order to ascertain why it took as long as it did to come out, safe to say I saw a few reasons. Still, I'd say it stands as one of 2025's finest.

Hah, Youtube showed me the same video a day or so ago. Gamecube really did feel like it was on another level with the water.
