When Edmond Dédé, a pioneering 19th-century Creole composer from New Orleans, escapes racial segregation to build a musical legacy in France, his 1887 grand opera vanishes, until its first-ever performance in 2025 sparks a cross-continental journey to restore its place in music history.
The first single from Edmond Dédé's grand opera Morgiane is live ! So dreamy...

¶ Esthétique de Debussy : dialogues avec Ernest Guiraud

L'occasion de présenter le glorieux Guiraud, de s'interroger sur les représentations dans les histoires de la musique, et d'aborder l'harmonie libre debussyste.

This week I interviewed nearly 90 year old, retired musicologist professor John H. Baron from Tulane University, who wrote the extensive report on "Concert Life in XIXth century New Orleans" in his seventies. My oldest interviewee to date. It had taken some months to track him down.

Was called "Bye pretty girl" in a shopping area close to a university, after I just took a red eye back home . Out of nowhere, didn't even get to see the person saying that as I was re-entering my car. It was incredible. Just smiled. I'm writing it so I can remember that feeling!
