Love seeing all the people who care. Big cities are amazing, but this bravery is what makes my heart burst.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

The one silver lining I could see to a 🍊presidency is that the US population may be quickly united and galvanized against the oligarchs in power when everyone realizes the rich are just getting richer and those eggs aren’t getting any cheaper.

Annual reminders, a 🧵, please feel free to add your own:

1. Expectations surrounding the home/holidays falling on women is BS.

2. No one is looking at the cleanliness of your baseboards. If they are, don’t invite them next year.

(Not easy to say, but I’m glad to know it exists).

Anyone else remember when Dr. Oz said that it was fine for 2–3% of schoolchildren to die?

Yeah, he’s in charge of Medicaid and Medicare now.

To my fellow 🔵 in red states - how long do we estimate it will be before our neighbors start reporting us for being “disloyal”? A contributor to P2025 already has a website where you can turn in “woke educators”.
