“I said to Matthew [Benham], I didn’t mind if I needed to reduce my salary, but my family needed to be with me, and I needed to be with them.
“Obviously, he wanted me to be there because I was one of the main players of the team, but he gave me that opportunity to go back that one year to have my kids in Spain. Matthew is a total gentleman.
“It wasn't any reason about the club. I knew after that loan, I would go back to Brentford. That was my biggest idea; get back to Spain and get as fit as possible, more than to show off and stay there.
“It was more a personal situation and Matthew understood it perfectly. Uh oh, the Financial Times got something incredibly wrong, standing on the right is in the TFL Bylaws, Section 9 (1) so the very first thing in the Equipment and Safety section, there is also a potential penalty, an actual fine for breaking the bylaw
