Just had a skim, I'm not an expert myself but one thing that leapt out is it kind of seems to establish that anyone who knows the steps trans women take to transition can't have a genuine belief that we're identical to cis men.

Bet they're fuming about that!

Then again, the timeline where you transition would probably be the good one

"That's my surname but I don't know this woman" *Ghost tenses up* "Is this my daughter's grave?" *Ghost relaxes*

I can only hope whoever is doling out this "legal advice" gets named and shamed at some point.
December 3, 2025 at 1:55 PM
But when things like this come up they argue that trans girls should be excluded as kids because they'll never really be women.

It's circular; two bigoted arguments citing the outcome of the other as sources.

Ikr, I just wanna paint my 40k minis and watch YouTube videos about history but I'm wasting all my mental energy on problems that shouldn't exist.
December 2, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Also, I've seen some social media posts from transphobes who've seen this and think making YP transphobic is now attainable. 2/2

Bear in mind as well that this was a vote to make a vague affirmation without committing to anything and 30% were against even doing that much.

Some of the ones in favour are going to be the "I support trans people but..." crowd so getting specific policies will be an uphill struggle. 1/2

I haven't fully written off YP yet, but they're trying to combine misaligned groups into something coherent; working out the kinks is going to take years and even if they pull it off I expect a sizeable chunk of the initial membership will ultimately leave. 3/3
December 1, 2025 at 6:30 PM
In reality I think the broad tent approach they're taking will necessitate a lot of compromises.

Meanwhile the Greens are a pre-existing left wing party also with policies voted on by members that've already gone through evolution and refinement. 2/
December 1, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Yeah, watching her accuse the Greens of not being left wing enough to work with after calling transphobes "comrade" felt like a piss-take.

Imo the holier than thou attitude we're seeing from some YP folks comes from assuming it'll become their idealised left wing party before they have policies 1/

She's another terf, so probably not.

But with all the scrutiny the EHRC are now under it'll hopefully be a poisoned chalice.
December 1, 2025 at 2:49 PM
I want to be optimistic, but this doesn't really define anything in particular they want to work towards.

So I can't but read this as them asking "shall we make a token gesture without committing to anything specific?" and a third of the membership still going "nah"
December 1, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Funny how the article just fully contradicts itself in places too, like saying
GLP should have specific fundraisers for separate causes, suggesting you don't already, then cites how much you raised from you doing that for trans rights cases.

I'm pretty sure the government's own law experts must have been raising red flags behind closed doors.

I think she went along with things because she naively expected them to tone it down later.

Instead they've gone all in and now are doing PR to make her look bad for not rubber stamping it.
December 1, 2025 at 9:23 AM
Yeah, I'll admit I did cringe a bit from that joke he made on the last leg
November 30, 2025 at 12:28 PM
The BBC has been transphobic for ages; like they'll let terfs talk unchallenged but can't do a piece about anything trans people are doing without letting a bigot comment (usually Maya Forstater).

It is a lot more blatant this year though but bafflingly there's people saying they're too pro-trans 🤷‍♀️

I think there's an element of sunk cost fallacy.

Like, things have been shit for so long everyone assumes there must be a good reason for it, so it follows anyone saying things don't have to be shit is stupid.

Gonna be fun watching them backtrack on the comparisons and insist you're not like him actually when New York doesn't implode.
November 17, 2025 at 12:34 PM
If they were smarter they should be lying to make the judge look biased against them, to make it easier to get a mob crying foul later 2/2
November 14, 2025 at 9:40 AM
I was thinking about some of the examples you gave of them getting the judge wrong and honestly I wonder if they're shooting themselves in the foot (again).

If they make it sound like the judge was biased in their favour it'll make it harder to be indignant when they don't get what they want 1/2

That, or Faulkner's realised her last hurrah is going to fail and wants to put on a show so she can play martyr
November 14, 2025 at 12:27 AM
But surely by that logic gendering toilets at all shouldn't be allowed?
November 14, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I had a friend try to go to the local paper with a shitty landlord issue.

If a cis person did this people would be sympathetic, but they just got a comment section full of abuse about their appearance in the photo.

Frankly I suspect the paper expected that and wanted the engagement.
