I read this book just a few weeks ago (divorced 8 years ago after a 26-year marriage). I really enjoyed it. It made me think that if I do date again, there’s no reason I need to get married again. I’m fine taking care of just me.

I’m in my mid-50s, and I have a little over one year’s salary saved for retirement. I just stopped contributing to my 401k in order to pay for increased insurance premiums for my son and myself. The future looks pretty dark right now.

I am 56, my listening age was 27. My son is 21, his listening age was 69. I listen to David Duchovny, Jonathan Coulton, and Michael Nesmith. He listens to Jeremy Soule, Radiohead, and Palace. I don’t get it.

Lovely article! Thank you for stepping up in your way. I love being a mom to my now 24- and 21-year olds. Their father never really bothered. He’s the one missing out on these two absolutely amazing people. You are doing it right.
