And didn’t you just kinda die a little inside when his hand went up in class? In a world where you’d get tickets for student offenses (“1011.2 toadying compliments of prof’s work embedded in purported question” being way up there) “asking questions that extend class” would be the worst. $500 min.

Just heard his bail’s been revoked, remanded a couple long ago. Will go find actual filing. Was at two firms same time as he was - just the nicest guy, helped when didn’t need to. I keep reading all the pleadings w/ shock. Pretty clear big gambling got wayyy out of hand but … damn.

/2 you’d sure think he’d know the feds can follow the money. The untethered crypto wallets are unfindable … unless you do loads of texting about them complete w wallet numbers. Then they’re pretty darn findable.

Just saw his bail revoked, remanded to custody. Truly impossible to believe! It’s been years but I worked at two different big firms when he did, he was the nicest guy, would do anything for folks. So incredibly sad, esp for his family - is where a truly off-the-chain gambling addiction can go?

Makes it a good bit harder to get your nomination through the Senate (even this one) especially for something like AG. Which, I mean… the more hopelessly incompetent the people selected are, the happier I am on one level, but his confirmation would be a real obscenity, so, there’s that.

Just fyi it’s totally been done before in the U.S. I mean, Warren Harding was by all accounts a great guy, pleasant, etc, but his administration was spectacularly corrupt. It’s just amazing what you can do if you have a lot of power and give no shits about anyone but yourself, wealth, and power!

I have MD friends who have tiredly said, they really only close schools when the ERs and hospitals start overflowing with people in severe respiratory distress. That’s good, if you want people including possibly you not to die. And yes, remote sucks for some kids. It’s not the teachers’ fault.

Gosh, I wish there were a law that allowed us all to *know* about where all the dark money came from! Oh I forgot, money is “speech”. 🙄 IIRC, Ken White said going after PACs is easier if the donors themselves are unhappy about where the $$ is going. Alas! Not the case with a lot of these.

When I first saw that story, My BS dial spun instantly to 11. This thing didn’t happen so much, it married razor blades in Hallowe’en candy and birthed a pedophile ring in the basement of a pizza and ping pong joint a mile from where I’m sitting right now. Ugh!
