Tired middle-aged woman, likes cats. Has strong opinions, may or may not share them. Transitioned in the long-ago years of the early 00s, not that it's any of your business.
Messaged you.

Reddit is good for sharing info about a bunch of really niche hobbies. Conversely it is the WORST possible place to go for life advice. I refuse to even look at any of the trans subreddits there, except for very occasionally checking on the local one to see what the latest interpersonal disaster is.

I've never felt as objectified, condescended-to and icky as when meeting cis "allies" whose sole exposure to gender stuff has been drag shows and thus believe that trans women are drag queens turned up to 11.

Anime waifu versions of your dead relatives.

(A J-Pop version of Avalanches' Frontier Psychiatrist begins playing in the background.)

I don't want to go back to the 80s to live there. I just want to visit for a couple of days with a good film camera and a broadcast-quality video camera. Also for the opportunity to smack my elementary-school-aged self upside the head.

128-bit 64 gigabyte BluRay Atari and Coleco consoles. You've never seen Donkey Kong like this before.

Turns out those dilators in that pouch look EXACTLY like a bundle of dynamite on an airport Xray machine. And the security guy WILL pull them out & examine them in front of everyone while asking what they're for.

Thankfully(?) I'd been through so much by then I told him the truth. He went beet red.

And The Colonel cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth; and when he had cried, the eleven herbs and spices uttered their voices.

I was about to write, and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, seal up those things which the eleven herbs and spices uttered, and write them not.

Revelation 10:10 except the whole chapter takes place in a KFC or a Church's.

"50 degrees, that's fairly pleasant... wait a second, 50 CELSIUS. Oh dear God."

The only time it's ever hit that temperature in Canada, the town it happened in burned to the ground the next day.

I didn't know my vagina could cringe but it just did.

On that note, trying to figure out things worked, ahem, for the first time post-SRS-healing... unsuccessfully, but in the process somehow managed to throw my back out for a week. That was not the accomplishment I was looking for.

Isabel Fall was a horrible cautionary tale about internet dogpiling. Now it's like once or twice a week someone Wins The Lottery.

FFS did the exact same thing for me, it was like a magic wand. In my early 40s after a decade and a half of HRT, after facial surgery and some hair dye in the space of a month I went from looking like my grandpa in his mid 50s to looking like my great aunt in her mid 20s.

In the past year so many people I know have been like "you know what, social media as a whole has been a mistake, I give up on it entirely. You know where to find me, see ya around" and then no, I don't know where to find them.

I may be able to help, or might be able to put you in touch with someone who can.

Do you want vultures? Cause that's how you get vultures.

Right there with you. I thought I was going to start dry heaving this morning.

If this was a chart from Jan '96 I would have been all over it. (My high school grad year.)
January 5, 2026 at 3:45 AM
This chart is from January 1998 though. Some stuff like Fiona Apple (released in '96) took a lot time to chart.
