The fun part about doing amateur game journalism when you're younger is that you have free rein to be superbly, confidently wrong. I just opened an old notebook to a random page and saw some old coverage of Dark Souls where I lamented that it quote "doesn't seem to have a noteworthy soundtrack :/"

I have always loved composing, but when I was growing up, I was told constantly that if I pursued it as a career I would end up hating it. I wish I had ignored the people who had told me that, because I ended up spending so much time not composing when I was DESPARATE for an artistic outlet.

Also just feel extremely excited, constantly, to have the opportunity to hone my skills whenever I can, and it feels wild to still feel like I'm learning and growing and challenging myself every single time I sit down to write.

A huge perk of working with Epidemic Sound for my original stuff is that they have always been incredibly encouraging about the directions I've chosen to take my music in, and I really think I've been able to learn so much from that process of exploration.

You're also probably going to lose any "brand" recognition, because if people are searching for "Allison Martin Trombone" they're still definitely gonna find your stuff.

I've used "Laura Platt Music" everywhere I can since 2016ish, I think I'd recommend it! Obviously "Trombone" can be super useful if that's your only focus, but I think if you're finding it limiting or it doesn't encompass everything you do, it's probably worth making the switch!

Also I just love watching and listening to and reading stuff where you can tell the original artist is channelling all that they have into it, and this movie is so clearly the Wachowski sisters doing exactly that 😭
