Huge thread from Tyche Books, a Canadian publisher. Her authors are every day folks, with bills and rent and the physical requirement to eat every day.
Stealing the books she publishes is not a progressive act. It's not activism. It's not punk.

Some of my authors are on disability. Some struggle to pay monthly bills. Some are retired & on limited income. Some were laid off in the past couple years & have yet to find new work. Some would love to quit the day job & write full time, but don't earn enough from royalties to do that.

Going back and forth between wanting to die to prove to people that I do actually have things wrong with me (spite!) or wanting to live to show that I don't need them to believe me or help me or anything since they're not going to anyway (also spite!)

My dreams are never set in Canada even though I've been living here over 6 years. They always take place in Texas, either at my mom's in DFW or back in Austin (though I'm usually just visiting there)

I wanted to make some earrings so I asked my roommate to give me a theme or a color. She suggested orange, knowing I never wear it myself and don't especially like it. I wound up making two simple pairs and I like them, even if they're really basic.

The second point here is something I didn't know until far too late in my life. If you can really internalize that fact, it will change how you think about clothing forever.
I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:
1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;
2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.

Your yearly reminder that “holiday” celebrations that only include Christian traditions are not, in fact, inclusive even if you don’t use the word Christmas, so tbh I’d rather you just say it’s Christmas.
Until a few years ago, ugly holiday sweaters didn’t exist. They’re ugly Christmas sweaters, with some generic Jewish iconography to be “inclusive.” But the truth is, when I have to buy one to wear to a work party, I feel like I’m in another culture’s drag.

Late night update, I finished it. Took me a while and a whole lot of back and forth to figure it out because it's a really complicated design unlike anything I've ever tried to make before, but eventually it worked!
