I really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and it’s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.

Huge army and navy to do an Anti-EU alliance with Ukraine is genuinely such a bonkers idea that I am kinda impressed. No one can accuse Glasman of thinking inside the box.

I sort of hoped we might do better solely because people would have had a few years to see the awful effects in the US, but it’s just not clear to me that much of this information gets through unless you’ve got a lot of personal ties in the US, as academics often do. I spoke to someone I volunteer

The only saving grace is that I think reform will be surprisingly disorganised. But it will be fucking grim. Can't imagine the university system will survive though the oxbridge-russell group institutes will muddle through

most such accounts continue just to be the am radio version of the daily show, and innocuously amass more followers. but occasionally they move toward a crackpot analysis, or indulging pet theories, or monetization. seems to be a platform problem, that level of accumulation is just not a good thing

no idea who he is, but some definitely non-bot mutuals of mine follow him. at a glance it seems like he posts shallow and emotive political commentary. that's an old formula for big accounts. you see a viral dunk on pete hegseth or something, you press the follow button, then he is just *around*

One of the reasons I expect Reform to go worse in the UK than Trumpism is going in the US is that I think the UK has weaker civic society institutions. Our churches and universities are less rich, powerful, or inclined to resist, our media more compliant and uniform, our unions just as desiccated.
This is the most alarming story I’ve read today. Giving up the fight before it’s started

One of the reasons I expect Reform to go worse in the UK than Trumpism is going in the US is that I think the UK has weaker civic society institutions. Our churches and universities are less rich, powerful, or inclined to resist, our media more compliant and uniform, our unions just as desiccated.

it's so sad to read that he was shunned for his name despite his anti-nazi work during the war. statistically speaking this means he was shunned by people who did less to resist the nazis than he did. human beings are so stupid. i'm going to bed.
