I like seeing good people helping good people!

Both...it kind of depends on where we are in the story. The more concrete the action I want us to take (or if we're about to go into a fight) the more likely I have hope of an outcome. But if we have options, or are gathering information, then I'm in exploration mode!

Also both player and GM!

Listen, the fact that you were recovering from a food disagreement and still got up and got outside for a bit of a walk is the important part.

You have been moving with THE POWER OF YOUR MIND!!

I've been hanging around inspiring designers like you for a long time. That helps a lot. <3

OK glad that made sense! It's a great question, and absolutely worth taking a deep dive to think about. Especially when we talk about using some games for many different genres of storytelling. Thank you for asking it!

When the rules of the game help me create the type of story that the game promised I could create with it, that's when it's supporting my storytelling. I want lunch, it's promised me a sandwich and given me a kitchen. <3

...did any of that make sense? Also now I'm hungry.

Draw Steel is "tactical heroic cinematic fantasy". It leans into epic crunchy combat. Everything is focused on providing cool opportunities to work together & defeat monsters!

10 Candles is about tragedy, the connections to each other & the secrets we keep. You have guideposts more than mechanics.

Honey Heist is about having a silly, hilarious time with friends where nothing is taken seriously and getting into the game quick is important. One page of random rolls and two funny stats and you're in the game.

Mechanics that support the story are when the tools the author has provided match the outcome they're hoping you'll create.

D&D and Pathfinder are heroic adventure games that let players be a huge variety of characters. The giant amount of options and stats to customize your PC support that story.

Ask me to create a sandwich.

First give me a sketchpad and some colored pencils. Then give me a well stocked kitchen. Both outcomes will be a sandwich. But if you wanted lunch, then only one set of tools will help me craft what you really wanted.

It warms my heart to see you bringing another round of immersive horror shows to the world!

And it's being made by people with lots of experience in both AP and traditional productions. So I hope folks take these numbers to heart, because these folks know what they are talking about.

Also it's just good to see Ivan making creepy AP again.

That's 100% the right call. <3

I ran a 10 person 4e game for more than a year. We made it work because we didn't want to leave folks behind when the store we played at closed. So everyone worked to give each other space.

It's not my preferred size group, but when everyone is on board it can be beautiful!

He's absolutely doing a lot of fantastic work. But also a large party is a team effort. All the players need to help make it work, even if it's just willing to be extra patient and sit out part of the game for an hour or so.
