…and it could very well be a coincidence that a child spoke their first words three days after trying the drug. Also one of the most commonly cited media sources in is a pediatric neurologist who wrote a book citing leucovorin as a cure-all, which is a huge red flag. 2/2

You may have seen news about the drug leucovorin (folinic acid) leading to "miraculous" speech in an autistic child. Sigh.
Please know that the study being cited happened almost a decade ago, its effect on the other autistic children was inconclusive... 1/2

A common tale: Despite growing up with many autistic traits, William Butchart learned to "blend into the background," effectively masking his autism as an adult. Then his two children were diagnosed as autistic. Then he was diagnosed himself—at age 41.

Saying “autistic people have superpowers” means well, but it creates false expectations and stereotypes and makes it seem that autistic people are less normal than anyone else. Let autistic people be human, please. #neurodiversity
