HS kids don’t consider audiobooks (or podcasts) “real reading” according to my research with @teachkht.bsky.social. And my experience tells me that many teachers, admin, and parents agree!
The audiobook debate is remarkably narrow. Reading aloud was a group activity for centuries and I actually argue that people who struggle with classic lit should try an audiobook as it was likely that the original audience enjoyed it aloud.
