An Islamic tent might seem an unusual object to find in an Italian church.

But historian @fgigante.bsky.social has identified a 13th-century fresco which shows some medieval churches used Islamic tents as altar-curtains.

Explore the fresco, thought to be the only surviving image of its kind ⬇️
