It didn't collapse, it died of awkwardness. Without a ruling institution, everyone figured it had been someone else's turn to take out the garbage one day. Undone tasks piled on from there until the list was impossibly huge, and everyone just decided to drift away and never speak of it again.

When anyone tries to push Birds Aren't Real seriously, I just snatch their Chick-Fil-A out of their hands, take a big honkin' bite, and exclaim (with my mouth full) "I refute it thus!"
