"A new study from Stanford University found that children living in homes with frequent gas stove use and poor ventilation face nearly twice the lifetime cancer risk from benzene exposure compared to adults."

www.sfchronicle.com/health/artic...
The findings showed that children’s lifetime cancer risk from this exposure is 1.85 times higher than that of adults.
“Children generally breathe faster and take in more air — and therefore more pollutants — relative to their smaller body size,” the researchers noted.

The fossil fuel industry knows hooking up gas to new buildings gives our kids asthma and irreparably damages our climate.

They’ve launched an international campaign to make sure we keep doing it anyway.

Not having the gas lines would also make undergrounding electric lines easier.

This is a perilous moment for lawyers in federal service.
Stories of resistance from within can help.

This book tells of lawyers who helped run the Japanese American camps of WWII.

We can learn from their struggles to reconcile job with conscience.

Would you please share?

Nebraska is the only state with all public power - no investor owned utilities. So that makes at least some sense to me.

When we were looking, research indicated that all manufacturers of ventless units suggest leaving a window open while they are running due to the potential carbon monoxide exposure. Given that that defeats the point of using for heating, I would find another alternative than a ventless unit.

I’ve been reporting for 2 years on a proposed federal rule to slow boats in order te save the critically endangered right whale.

Republicans and boating lobbyists spent millions to block the rule by running ads, overwhelming NOAA and running down the clock.

It worked 👇
