BREAKING: Carl Schmitt disapproves of “law” based on spurious, authoritarian conception “legitimacy.” Old, half-baked, dangerous arguments.
Vermeule: judicial inference with legitimate acts of state especially internal functioning of coequal branch is violation of separation of powers.

Dems would get much more traction finding and promoting people saying what they know and experience.

What has more impact, This man speaking his mind or the Dems speaking “in unison “ ?

Is anyone aware of any effort by Israel--or by anyone else, for that matter--to argue that these strikes are not clearly unlawful? Whether or not you think that Israel should breach its obligations under the Charter in Syria, the silence on the legal question here is unusual, and telling. [1]

Airwars on the first 25 days of Gaza
“By almost every metric, the harm to civilians from the first month of the Israeli campaign in Gaza is incomparable with any 21st century air campaign. It is by far the most intense, destructive, and fatal conflict for civilians that Airwars has ever documented.”
By almost every metric, the harm to civilians from the first month of the Israeli campaign in Gaza is incomparable with any 21st century air campaign. It is by far the most intense, destructive, and fatal conflict for civilians that Airwars has ever documented. At least 5,139 civilians were killed in Gaza in 25 days in October 2023. This is nearly four times more civilians reported killed in a single month than in any conflict Airwars has documented since it was established in 2014.
In October 2023 alone, Airwars documented at least 65 incidents in which a minimum of 20 civilians were killed in a particular incident. This is nearly triple the number of such high-fatality incidents that Airwars has documented within any comparable timeframe. Over the course of 25 days, Airwars recorded a minimum of 1,900 children killed by Israeli military action in Gaza. This is nearly seven times higher than even the most deadly month for children previously recorded by Airwars.
Families were killed together in unprecedented numbers, and in their homes. More than nine out of ten women and children were killed in residential buildings. In more than 95 percent of all cases where a woman was killed, at least one child was also killed.
On average, when civilians were killed alongside family members, at least 15 family members were killed. This is higher than any other conflict documented by Airwars.

📝 Sweet Rewards Keep Desert Partnerships Alive Through Harsh Seasons 🧵

In Mexico's Sonoran Desert, cacti and other plants maintain a sophisticated security system, paying ant bodyguards with nectar from specialized glands that operate year-round.
#Botany #PlantScience 🧪
Cylindropuntia fulgida, or Jumping Cholla Cactus. A cactus with many multiple arms, all covered in so many yellow spines, that it almost looks like fur. At the end of the arms are short yellow trumpet-like flowers. If there were Muppet cacti, this would be one of them, and if another cactus in the same desert sang "Mana-mana", this would almost certainly respond "Doo doo duh-doo-doo".
