4. How we take care of ourselves is Black history.

5. How we express our pain and celebrate our progress is Black history.

6. How we advance in education is Black history.

Our children cannot just hear the stories. They must see the relevance of what it means to be Black in America! 💯✊🏿

I urge every Black father to not just educate, but to be an example of Black excellence. Black History is not just for February.

1. How we raise our children is Black history.

2. How we support our spouses is Black history.

3. How we influence our community is Black history.

It was a heavy conversation, one that gave me mixed emotions. I hate the fact that my son has to become a man in a society that assumes his deficiency because of his skin. Yet, I was proud to be the father that can prepare him for the struggle.

I emphasized the necessity of reading. I taught him about a time when we would risk our lives to learn how to read, and i highlighted how most of us in our community now refuse to read, even if our lives depend on it.

It's unfair and exhausting. Yet, through our resilience, we continue to execute in excellent for the sake of our progression towards freedom.
