Oh god that twist on this week’s Peacemaker 😱

“He is risen” HA! Billy Crudup delivered the fuck out of that line.

Also, cheers to whomever did the closed captions; it looks like they had fun. Idk what the difference is exactly between CCs on Dropout shows vs other networks/streaming services, there’s just a human touch to it that’s been very noticeable. This quality is consistent with all other Dropout shows.

I’m loving @jamieloftus.bsky.social moving audience members around based on their thing because it could have fun unintended consequences. Putting the two arsonists together in LA is *chef’s kiss*
lazyjellyfish.bsky.social
Crowd Control is so funny but goddamn frustrating because by the second round I want the show to just be like four hours of comedians interviewing all the audience members. Because why the fuck hasn’t anyone asked about Coven Destroyer!
lazyjellyfish.bsky.social
Holdup, was that @bjcolangelo.bsky.social in the audience on Crowd Control?! Is this how I find out that @dropout.tv is a part of the @yourewrongabout.bsky.social / @youaregood.bsky.social / @americanhysteria.bsky.social extended universe?!

This shot in tonight’s Chief of War is one of the most outstanding shots I’ve seen in decades of watching TV.
Still from Chief of War 109 “The Black Desert” of Cliff Curtis’s Keōua and Jason Momoa’s Ka’iana standing face to face at dusk on a mound of cooled lava that has cracked and is illuminated by the smoke and lava roiling beneath.
lazyjellyfish.bsky.social
Chief of War is fantastic TV and “The Black Desert” is a marvel to behold. Jason Momoa proved conclusively what a skilled director he is. As the sun set the battle scene progressed into darkness and lava and yet the many stories never got lost in the dark. What an outstanding episode.

What does it say about me that I see the (actual) blue books and feel fondly towards them 😰 I think I peaked in college

Just a bit curious which companies were threatening to pull their ads over the Kimmel situation. The FCC, Disney, and those advertisers make for quite the triumvirate of cowards.

I wrote about the firing of Alan Sepinwall, which is awful. And I tied it into what's happening all over in the media, why it's scary & what we can do to help. I used my words, but it's definitely Hulk Mo dialed up to 11, if that's a thing you would like to experience: www.moryan.com/on-the-firin...

In this emergency pod, host @elainelow.bsky.social is joined by a rotation of our best and brightest to break down the shocking news of Jimmy Kimmel's "indefinite" suspension. @snoodit.bsky.social has a play-by-play on Disney’s decision to pull Kimmel: theankler.com/p/emergency-...

Disney+ and Hulu premium cancelled. Why support a media company that so easily cedes media independence and first amendment freedoms? Why reward that kind of clear and unmistakable cowardice?

Saw Big Thief tonight for my first time and they’re immediately one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen in two and a half decades of seeing live music. Their studio recordings already sound outstanding, but they’re absolutely STUNNING live. Can’t wait to see them again.
lazyjellyfish.bsky.social
No surprise ABC is morally spineless. Jimmy Kimmel said nothing meriting suspension, simply exercised his first amendment rights. Ironic that the, ostensibly, free-speech, pro-discourse, anti-cancel-culture people are literally stifling discourse and literally cancelling opposing viewpoints.

I forgot how wonderfully batshit insane The Mornings Show is. Every season I’m astonished at how such an instantly forgettable show can be so thrilling to watch for the hour each week it’s on.

Said this in the Vulture slack, but this Emmys made me angry. Not because of the results: Lots of great choices from what was a great year of TV.

But the show had zero interest in celebrating TV: No montages, no clips (with sound) from the shows, and no interest in anything remotely surprising

Would’ve been happy with Andor or Severance but The Pitt really was miles beyond all other drama series in this last Emmys year. #Emmys2025
