Unfortunately, the US constitution only has completely theoretical options for removing a president from office. In decent democracies a whole administration can be sent packing.

People in charge back then didn't trust democracy too much yet.
That's why you have these bicameral systems, where some kind of elite, in the form of a not-too-demcratically chosen senate, will have control of the representatives chamber.
And the constitution can hardly be changed.
